Aurora, Ariel and Anna are Edward's faithful coaches, whom he loves very much.
Aurora, Ariel, and Anna are Edward's faithful coaches, whom he received as an award for coming from the Furness Railway to the Island of Sodor. The duo are eight dears that are very respectful and friendly to every engine, especially to their own faithful engine Edward, because of this, these eight are always their to help bring down to earth, These two always help keep Edward on track, and make sure that he does his jobs on time and without any trouble interfering. Despite their sweetness and wisdom, even these aren't that perfect, as they have gotten into pre-heated arguments and can be rather cheeky and snarky too anybody that has belittled them, especially Percy, and sometimes, these can fall out with each others on rare occasions, so even Edward would keep them in check to. All 3 are very proud their branch line, and with Edward's quick thinking and friendly attitude, and Aurora, Ariel, and Anna's wisdom and moral support, they make a grand trio that has stood the test of time.
Aurora, Ariel, and Anna are respectful to all of the engines, but most of all Percy and Edward. They show a kind and caring side to everyone on the whole railway. However, despite their kindness and sweetness, when needed they can be stern, especially Aurora, like when they worried Edward because his siderods had broke off, however they're no saints themselves. Once when The Fat Controller sends them away for repair, Emily arrives with Aurora, Ariel, and Anna repaired and looking as good as new and the Fat Controller promises that whatever happens a few days later, Edward will keep his old coaches which makes him very pleased.
The coach that was to be the basis for Aurora was first made by an 20 year old Stephen Patton. Many years later, after a long hiatus from modelling, a brake coach was built to match so that the Reverend's Edward model would have a complete train.
In the Railway Series, they are a pair of bogie coaches (i.e. each coach is supported on a pair of four-wheeled bogies or "trucks"). As currently illustrated, they appear similar to non-corridor suburban coaches operated by the LMS.
In the television series, Aurora, Ariel, and Anna are LB&SCR Stroudley four-wheeled coaches. Several coaches of this type are preserved on the Bluebell Railway.
In the Railway Series, Aurora, Ariel, and Anna were originally painted orange-brown and were later painted brown with a yellow stripe.
In the television series, they were painted in an orange-tan livery with their names painted on their sides in white.
