Diesel 2 also known as "Devious" Diesel 2", as her name implies, is a sinister diesel shunter from the Other Railway and is brothers with Diesel.
Persona
Diesel 2 is, in essence, the average pantomime villain. Like Diesel, she is oily, malicious, devious, scheming and full of ideas to get revenge. She views herself and any other diesel of her kind as highly above the steam engines, and believes that all diesels are "revolutionary" - she has also claimed diesels should be "rough and tough", as an excuse for bullying the other engines. Her antics give diesels on Sodor a bad reputation, which causes most steam engines to mistrust her.
However despite her antics, Diesel 2 still wants to prove herself to be a really useful engine. She is also very proud to be the first diesel on Sodor.
Basis
Diesel is based on a BR Class 08. Over seventy members of this class survive today in preservation, while around 100 remain in service on the national rail network. They were in fact the most successful shunting engines in the world, with 996 of them built. Diesel, The Diesel Shunter, Splatter, Dodge, 'Arry, Bert, Paxton, Sidney, Ulli and The Mainland Diesels are also members of the class.
Livery
Diesel is painted in the British Railways' black livery. Her livery originates from British Railways in the 1950s, during the time when all shunting engines were painted black. Her side rods were silver until the sixth season and have been black in every season after.

- Diesel 2 has traveled at well over her top speed of 20 miles per hour on numerous occasions.

- Diesel 2 will appear in Diesel War along with Diesel 2746.
- She is the first female diesel to be based on this class.
