Video Descriptions

Meet Gordon

Gordon is the No. 4 blue engine who pulls the express. As the senior member of the engine family, he is the fastest and most powerful of Sir Topham Hatt's team - and he knows it. He's goodhearted, always willing to forgive, and uses his superior strength to help smaller engines out of trouble.

Meet James

James is the No. 5 red engine. He is a medium-sized engine whose six driving wheels are not as big as Gordon's but not as small as Thomas'. He has a fine scarlet coat and brass dome and thinks of himself as a Really Splendid Engine. Occasionally this leads to misguided ideas about the sort of work suitable for such a distinguished engine, invariably landing James in trouble.

Meet Percy

Meet the Steam Team! Today we want to introduce Percy. Percy is the youngest engine in the group, but that does not stop him from working hard. Percy is curious about the world, a bit careless, and very brave. With a kind heart Percy is a friend to all and always ready to assist others.

Meet Emily

Emily is a beautiful emerald green engine with shiny paintwork and gleaming brass fittings. She is always ready to help a friend.

Meet Nia

Nia is a tank engine from the African country of Kenya and a new member of the Steam Team on Sodor. She’s a real optimist with a great sense of fun. She’s also driven by a strong moral compass and takes being fair and kind to others seriously. She’s not afraid to speak her mind when she needs to. Nia is both thoughtful and practical and often comes up with very creative ideas. Her kind heart and infectious enthusiasm never fail to win over others in the end.

Meet Rebecca

Rebecca is a very cheerful and happy engine. She is painted sunshine yellow which reflects her positive outlook on life. Rebecca always sees the best in others and enjoys helping everyone around her feel good about themselves. Despite her warm nature, Rebecca is not afraid to stand up for herself or her friends. She is a big, strong tender engine who is not intimidated by the more experienced engines on the railway. Rebecca is the number 22 engine.

Meet Joe

Joe is a big Diesel engine. He is the brother of BoCo and is painted purple like Charlie, Ryan and the Culdee Fell Engines. He is really funny and always telling jokes on the Island of Sodor.

Thomas' Descriptions

Gordon

Gordon is one of the largest engines in the Steam Team. He's painted blue, just like me, and has the number 4 on his tender. The Express train is made up of a long line of passenger coaches with a brake coach at the back. Gordon is coupled up to them at Knapford station, and pulls them along the Main Line. He's strong, and he always lets us know when he's on his way! Gordon is one of the fastest engines on Sodor. Gordon is so important, he even has a hill named after him! It was called Gordon's Hill because Gordon got stuck on it. Yes, Gordon may be a proud engine, but he's also a reliable engine, and was once given a special job pulling a special passenger... The Queen of England! As the most experienced member of the Steam Team, Gordon always gives good advice to other engines. He's a loyal engine, who would do anything to help the team if we were in danger. To me, Gordon is like a big strong superhero on rails!

James

James is a medium-sized engine. He is painted red, and has the number 5 on his tender. He is the joker in the Steam Team. James is coupled up to his passenger coaches at Knapford Station. They're red, just like him! James is a very red engine. Rosie is also a red engine. Once, James was black. Another time, he was pink. James can be a bit of a showoff, and as we all know, showing off can lead to trouble. But luckily for James, he can also be very fast. James doesn't like to be left out of anything, but he will always find a way to get out of jobs he doesn't think are important enough. James may be full of excuses... but of all the things that make James James, the thing I like most of all, is that he always makes us laugh!

Percy

Percy is a saddle tank engine. He is painted green, and has the number 6 on his cab. He is the youngest engine in the Steam Team. Percy collects his special mail train from Knapford Harbour, which is filled with all sorts of exciting packages. Then, he travels to every station across Sodor, delivering the mail as he goes. The mail never stops. Sometimes, Percy delivers it during the day, and sometimes he delivers it at night! Percy is especially busy at Christmas. Percy is especially curious about unusual things, and that can make him easily distracted, and a little careless. OK... a lot careless! Sometimes, Percy gets worried about things, which can make him a little bit panicky. But, he can also be very brave. Brave Percy can be, a very kind and gentle Percy. Helping others is also what makes Percy so special... but of all the things that make Percy Percy, the thing I like most of all, is that he's my best friend!

Emily

Emily is a mixed-traffic engine, who can pull passenger coaches as well as trucks. She is painted emerald green, with gleaming brass fittings. She has two very large driving wheels. They are the biggest wheels in the Steam Team. Emily is very sensible, and she gives very sensible advice. Emily is also very safety-minded. Emily may be a sensible engine... but of all the things that make Emily special, the thing I like most of all, is that she really cares about all of us!

Nia

Nia is a mixed-traffic tank engine from Kenya in Africa. She is painted orange, and has the number 18 on her cab, and is happy to have joined the Steam Team. Nia enjoys shunting trucks... lots of trucks... lots and lots of trucks! She is very strong, and very playful. Although, sometimes she can get a bit carried away. Nia knows a lot about animals, and she can be very resourceful. Nia's name is a special name. In Swahili, a language spoken in Kenya, it means "purpose". That suits Nia very well! The thing I like best about Nia... the thing that makes her so special, is that she decided to make her home here, even though she is from a different part of the world, which is very brave!

Rebecca

Rebecca is a tender engine. She is painted bright yellow, and has the number 22 on her cab. She is the newest member of the Steam Team. Rebecca loves being on Sodor. Rebecca is a very cheerful and happy engine, and she makes everyone else happy too! Rebecca is really strong, and she's always up for a challenge. Even the Troublesome Trucks like Rebecca! Rebecca might be a big, strong and happy engine... but of all the things that make Rebecca special, the thing I like most of all, is that she makes everyone else feel good about themselves!

Joe

Joe the Diesel, the newest Diesel engine on the Sodor Railway. Joe is a big Diesel engine who is the brother of BoCo and knows lots of ways to have fun. He has purple paint, has his name on the side that says “Joe” and a big red nose. Joe is very good friends with the funniest engines and people on Sodor like Charlie the Purple Engine and Sir Lowham Hatt. And with Mr. Bubbles as Joe's loyal and trusty driver, he has never had a single accident on Sodor Railway! When Joe first came to the Island of Sodor, everyone thought he was gonna be as funny as MCU Means, but once Joe showed that he was way better than that, everyone now likes him. Not only does Joe know loads of ways to have fun, but he is also the fastest and strongest engine on the whole Sodor Railway! Even faster than Speedy Spencer and even stronger than Murdoch. Joe does many jobs on Sodor, but his most favourite jobs of all are hauling the Circus Train and delivering Stinky Cheese all over the island. The trucks that carry the stinky cheese also never dared to play tricks on Joe as they know it’s very important job to do. Overall, Joe is one of the best engines that ever be on the Island of Sodor and an single engine on the Island doesn’t like him or think he isn’t funny.

Trivia

  • This is the first time that Thomas, Gordon, Percy and Emily are seen in their Series 23 CGI models. All four of them, along with James, gain additional rivets and handrails, Percy gains handrails by his cab and on his boiler while Gordon gains a second permanent lamp and Thomas gains a step on the front of his tanks. Emily also gains an additional handrail above her smokebox. However, in the episode Chucklesome Trucks, Emily's buffers are incorrectly coloured black.
  • The Meet Percy video marks the first time Knapford Harbour has been seen in the television series since the fourth season episode, Special Attraction, as well as its first appearance in full CGI.
  • This episode marks Murdoch, BoCo and Derek's first appearances in full CGI.
  • In the Meet Rebecca video, Rebecca shares a duet with Gordon that is sung to the tune of I Do Like to be Beside the Seaside, it was from Thomas the Quarry Engine and Toad and the Whale.
  • In the Meet James video, references to The Adventure Begins and Tickled Pink are made as James changes liveries to black and pink.
  • Though the Meet Emily video states that Emily is a mixed-traffic engine, in reality her class was designed specifically for express passenger work and would not be suitable for goods trains.
  • In the Meet Gordon video, references to the episodes Edward and Gordon and Paint Pots and Queens were made.
  • In the Meet Gordon video, the speed at which Gordon reverses down his hill pushing his coaches would have, in reality, caused a serious derailment.
  • In the Meet Nia video, Nia uses two Swahili phrases; the first, "nakutakia siku njema" means "I wish you a good day" and the second, "lala salama" means "sleep safely". This also confirms that she is bilingual, having the ability to speak Swahili and English.
  • Thomas is the only member to not get his own video, though this was likely because he was serving as the host for each video.
  • Henry is the only previous Steam Team member to not appear in a video, while Edward was the only one of the previous members to have a speaking role.
  • Thomas, Edward, Henry and Toby are the only original Steam Team members not to have a video.

Goofs

  • Thomas mentions that Percy is the youngest member of the Steam Team; in actuality, this is no longer true at this point as Rebecca is now the youngest member.
  • In a graphic showing Percy delivering mail across the Island of Sodor, he is shown running along the Skarloey Railway, however this would not be possible as there are no standard gauge tracks down that line.
  • The description of the Meet Emily video incorrectly states she is the newest member of the Steam Team, whereas the newest members are Nia and Rebecca.
