Signal Failure is the thirty-eighth episode of the sixth series. It is based on the story of the same name from Annual book.

Plot

James is fed up with signals. Every time he reaches one, he has to stop after running splendidly along. Having to stop and wait also makes him arrive late at the big station. To make matters worse James gets told off by the Fat Controller after the signalman at Wellsworth has reported that he has gone past a signal at danger. That night, James wishes that all the signals on Sodor are gone. His wish comes true sooner than expected when a hurricane sweeps across the Island. James soon learns the value of signals.
